๐ŸŽ’ The Mischief of Bag No. 26 – My Funniest Kailash Yatra Companion

๐ŸŽ’ The Mischief of Bag No. 26 – My Funniest Mount Kailash Travel Companion

Every trek has its challenges — altitude, weather, food, fatigue. But my Kailash Travel gave me something extra: Duffle Bag No. 26.

I picked up this duffle bag at Nepalgunj, unaware of how much drama it would create. From the very beginning, Bag 26 had a mischievous personality. She went missing, reappeared late, and made me chase her across airports, jeeps, and borders.

When She Refused the Jeep Ride ๐Ÿš™

The real adventure came on the stretch from Simikot to Hilsa — an 11-hour ride on one of India’s deadliest off-roads. Jeeps bounced across rocks, splashed through rivers, and swayed dangerously along cliff edges. I clung on, dusty and shaken, counting every bend.

But Bag 26? She decided this wasn’t for her. Instead, she found herself a comfortable helicopter ride straight to Hilsa, skipping all the bumps. When I finally staggered in, there she was, already waiting calmly as if she had done nothing unusual.

The Hide & Seek Morning at Hilsa ๐Ÿ•ต️‍♂️

The next morning at Hilsa, Bag 26 pulled another trick. She went missing again. I ran from room to room, asking if anyone had seen her. Some fellow travelers laughed and said, “Oh yes, Bag 26 came here, but we returned it because it wasn’t ours.”

It felt like she was playing hide and seek, moving from room to room, teasing me just enough to keep me chasing. This game went on until the border crossing.

And then — everything changed.

The Tibet Connection ๐Ÿ”ฎ

The moment Bag 26 stepped into Tibet, she became a different bag. No drama, no disappearing acts. She stayed quiet, calm, obedient.

I soon realized why: in Tibet, 8 is considered the luckiest number. Hotel rooms started with 8, Wi-Fi passwords were 88888888, and the culture was surrounded by the vibration of 8. Bag 26, with her destiny tied to luck, finally felt at home.

The Gang at Kathmandu ✈️

After the Travel, back in Nepalgunj, I returned Bag 26 to the tour operator and told him, “Please take her back to China — she belongs there.”

But the final twist came at Kathmandu airport. I suddenly spotted a porter carrying not just Bag 26, but also Bag 18, Bag 8, and Bag 17 together.

“Oh my God,” I laughed, “she’s formed a gang of number 8!”

It felt like Bag 26 had completed her mischief in style — gathering her tribe, teaming up with her lucky numbers, and waving me a cheeky goodbye.

Moral of Bag 26

Every adventure has its stories. For me, Bag 26 was a reminder that on the Kailash Travel, you don’t control everything. Even your luggage has its own karma, its own route, and sometimes — its own sense of humor.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Lesson: Travel light, but carry stories heavier than any bag.
